Betzi Pipis artist, born and raised in Monroe Michigan, studied Fine Arts at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Medium: Acrylic and Oil on Wood and Canvas.
Betzi usually works on several bodies of work concurrently. Her amazing use of color has created a lot of interest in her work. A newcomer to the art scene in Detroit Michigan in 2002, Betzi has established quite a following. Painting unique original images of women her work captures that emotion, feeling, or place that all of us have experienced at one time or another in life.
Capturing one's emotion is both challenging and exciting, said Betzi. I try to focus on portraying feeling through drawing the facial or body expression of the woman I am painting. It may be the expression of the mouth, tilt of the head, or emotion in the eyes. My goal is to provoke the viewer to that familiar place. Those landscapes that they can't forget.
Betzi has shown her work at a variety of places in Michigan and has sold many works around the world. Her work is currently showing at The Globe Building located in downtown Detroit, 129 Lounge, Monroe, MI, The Monroe Street Gallery, Monroe, MI, The Biddle Gallery, Wyandotte, MI. Additionally, some of her commissioned work can be viewed at The New Center One Building, Detroit, Biz-R Collection, Detroit, and 23 Washington., Monroe MI.
